This sounds great, but a voice in the back of my head on the business side says it's encouraging copyright infringement...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 01 May, 2006 09:48

What are you on about Natasha? If you follow the letter of the law, this whole site is a mine of infringement. You, as a site user/visitor, are already illustrating that you are OK with copyright infringment (unless you are claiming to just look at the lovely colours and never listen to the sounds). What you are actually saying, it seems, is that you are OK with copyright infringement, as long as you are not personally cuplable.

Nonetheless, I won't be taking part myself (on aesthetic grounds). For this to work, Blowupdoll mix tapes should only ever be made as analogue cassette tapes with dodgy hand-drawn inserts.

"What you are actually saying, it seems, is that you are OK with copyright infringement, as long as you are not personally cuplable."

That would be pretty lame if it were true :)

Actually, I pay enough royalties for streaming music from my site and gladly link to Mordi, so I do my part. I couldn't help but notice someone else was reticent, but didn't mention why.

all you are doing is making a mix cd for a friend- that's all!

sylvia kristel!!!!! now that i'd love to hear! sounds like a great mix cd!

By Blogger mordi, at 23 May, 2006 16:18

Well, perhaps we can do more swaps? I mean if people are up for that. It's just a matter of burning another mix and I'm very happy with what I got, so I'm sure there's plenty more good stuff people have dug up that they'd be willing to share. I'm happy to send this out to whoever would like a copy.

i've taken down your email address that you posted on here- because you may end up getting lots of nutty emails!

The mix club is now CLOSED!!!

sorry!

By Blogger mordi, at 30 May, 2006 14:55

I've posted my mix on my blog.

By Blogger Wouter, at 31 May, 2006 11:07

This was a great idea. I've been trading music since the bad old days of casettes. I probably have 300 tapes that people made for me, and as many that I have made for other people floating out there.

As for the copyright issue, a portion of the money for blank cds goes to ASCAP and BMI. Why would they allow them to be sold if they didn't expect people to burn songs on them? If the record companies think that people are only going to burn songs they purchased legally they are seriously deluded. This is why they've chosen to concentrate on film soundtracks, TV commercials and ringtones.
